The 2024 GMC Sierra 3500 has 3 recalls, the most serious involving a steering gear shaft that can fracture and disconnect, causing a complete and sudden loss of steering control.
The remaining two recalls both address the same tailgate issue and can be treated as one concern: on trucks equipped with power-unlatching tailgates, water can get into the electronic gate-release switch and cause a short circuit, triggering the tailgate to drop open on its own while the truck is parked or in motion. When that happens, any unsecured cargo in the bed can slide out onto the road, creating a hazard for vehicles behind.
