The 2013 GMC Yukon XL has 3 recalls, the most serious involving the front passenger airbag inflator, which can explode and send metal fragments into the cabin, causing serious injury or death.
This airbag defect is linked to the Takata inflator issue and applies to vehicles originally sold or registered in high-humidity states and territories including Florida, Texas, Hawaii, and others. On the electrical side, the chassis electronic module on certain vehicles can develop an internal short, causing the check engine light to appear, the engine to stall unexpectedly, or the vehicle to fail to start entirely.
