The airbag concern stems from the Takata inflator defect and is covered by multiple filings that together apply to vehicles registered in a wide range of states and climates. Because the filings target different geographic regions, whether a specific Yukon is affected depends on where it was sold or registered over its lifetime, so checking the VIN is essential. The core danger is the same across all filings: the passenger-side airbag inflator can rupture during deployment, throwing sharp metal fragments toward the driver and passengers rather than providing protection.

On the fuel system side, there are two recalls covering the same underlying problem: water can get into the fuel system control module and cause a short circuit or an open circuit. When this happens, the check engine light may come on, the engine can become difficult to start, or it may stall without warning.
