The 2009 GMC Yukon has 5 recalls, the most serious being a Takata-style passenger airbag inflator that can rupture and send metal fragments into the cabin, posing a risk of serious injury or death.
The airbag defect is covered across multiple filings tied to regional humidity and registration history, but the underlying hazard is the same regardless of where the vehicle was sold or currently registered. On the fuel system side, the fuel system control module can allow water to get inside, causing a short circuit that may trigger the check engine light, set diagnostic codes, or cause the engine to be hard to start, fail to start, or stall while driving. This fuel system issue appears in two separate filings that describe the same defect and the same consequences.
