The 2007 Honda Civic has 10 recalls, the most serious being a passenger-side airbag inflator that can rupture and send metal fragments into the cabin, along with a wheel bearing defect that can cause a wheel to detach from the vehicle while driving.
The airbag issue accounts for several of the recalls. The core problem is a front passenger airbag inflator prone to explosive rupture, and prior repair attempts at some dealerships may have introduced a secondary concern: incorrectly installed replacement inflators that may not deploy properly in a crash. Note that the airbag recalls only affect Hybrid models in some filings, while others cover the broader Civic lineup. On the electrical side, Hybrid models also face a voltage converter failure that can shut off the headlights, stall the engine, and prevent a restart. There is also a brake light switch concern on sedan and Hybrid models, where excess silicone grease from the steering column can drip onto the switch and cause the brake lights to stop working, raising the risk of a rear-end collision. A label recall covers certain vehicles where the tire and loading information label shows incorrect weight ratings for the vehicle.
