The 2021 Honda Civic has 4 recalls, the most serious being a brake master cylinder that can separate from the brake booster, causing a partial or complete loss of braking ability.
Two of the four recalls involve the front passenger airbag's occupant classification sensor, which can misread the seat's occupant and cause the airbag to deploy when it should not during a crash, raising the risk of injury to whoever is sitting there. Because the sensor controls whether the airbag fires at all, an unexpected deployment in a collision can make the impact significantly more dangerous rather than less. The fourth recall covers the fuel pump, which can fail without warning and stall the engine while the vehicle is moving, leaving the driver without power in traffic or at highway speeds.
