2020 HONDA GL1800 Recalls — Canada & USA

The 2020 Honda GL1800 has 4 recalls, the most serious being a crankshaft bolt that can break and lock up the rear wheel without warning, creating a significant crash risk. Three of the four recalls involve engine stall risks through different paths. The fuel pump impeller can deform and cause the pump to stop delivering fuel, cutting power while riding. On manual transmission models, two separate ECU software issues can also stall the engine: one triggers when the clutch is pulled in while in second gear or higher with a closed throttle, and the other stems from an ignition timing error that reduces engine performance until the engine dies. Both software issues affect manual transmission-equipped Goldwings only. A software update addresses each.
