The 2021 Honda GL1800 has 3 recalls, all involving engine stall risks: a failing fuel pump, a crankshaft bolt that can break and lock up the rear wheel, and a software error that reduces engine performance. The fuel pump impeller can deform and stop delivering fuel, cutting the engine without warning. The crankshaft drive gear bolt failure is the most physically dangerous of the three, as a sudden rear wheel lockup at speed gives the rider very little time to respond. The third issue affects manual transmission models only: a software error in the engine control unit causes incorrect ignition timing, which can reduce power and stall the engine. All three conditions raise the risk of a crash.
