The 2011 Hyundai Genesis has 5 recalls, the most serious being a fire risk tied to the anti-lock brake control module, which can ignite in the engine compartment while the vehicle is parked or moving.
A separate brake concern involves fluid that fails to protect the brake system's hydraulic control unit from corrosion, which can reduce braking effectiveness over time. On the electrical side, a faulty brake light switch can prevent the brake lights from illuminating when you press the pedal and may also keep cruise control from disengaging, leaving following drivers without warning. There is also an ignition interlock issue where a broken return spring can allow the vehicle to be started while in gear without the parking brake applied, causing unintended movement. Finally, the front passenger seat's occupant classification sensor connector can come loose when the seat is adjusted, causing the passenger airbag to deploy at the wrong power level in a crash rather than adjusting to the occupant's size.
