2016 HYUNDAI TUCSON Recalls — Canada & USA

The 2016 Hyundai Tucson has 10 recalls, the most serious being a fire risk tied to the anti-lock brake module, which can corrode internally, short circuit, and start an engine compartment fire whether the vehicle is parked or moving. A separate but equally urgent structural concern involves the hood: if the primary hood latch is released while driving, the secondary latch may not hold the hood closed, and the hood can fly open and block the driver's view. On the drivetrain side, models equipped with the 7-speed dual-clutch transmission have two recalls. In high ambient temperatures, the transmission clutch can hesitate before engaging when pulling away from a stop, and under certain conditions the vehicle may refuse to move at all when the accelerator is pressed and released repeatedly. There are also several recalls tied to the optional trailer hitch accessory: the trailer hitch wiring harness can cause the trailer's turn signals to fail, and separately, the brake lights on the trailer can stay lit continuously, which may confuse drivers behind. Some of these trailer-related recalls apply only to vehicles fitted with the accessory hitch harness.
