The 2012 Hyundai Veloster has 8 recalls, the most serious being a fire risk from the rear parking assist sensors, which can short circuit if moisture gets into the sensor housing. On vehicles equipped with a panoramic sunroof, the glass panel may have been weakened or damaged during factory installation and can fracture while driving, sending glass pieces into the cabin and potentially causing a crash. This issue covers vehicles across several production date ranges, and prior repair attempts did not fully resolve it for all affected units. Manual transmission models have a separate concern: moisture and road grime can work into the parking brake linkage, causing it to bind. When this happens, the parking brake may drag while driving or fail to hold the vehicle when parked. There is also a lighting compliance issue on certain Canadian-market vehicles where the lighting system does not meet required standards.
