The 2016 Indian Springfield has 3 recalls, the most serious being a fuel rail that can contact surrounding components and leak gasoline, raising the risk of a fire if the fuel reaches an ignition source.
The gear position switch can develop oxidized contacts that cause the neutral indicator to show neutral even when the transmission is actually in gear. If a rider starts the motorcycle in that condition, the bike can lurch forward unexpectedly. There is also an electrical connection issue at the vehicle control module that can cause the front lights, including the headlight, to cut out entirely, leaving the rider without forward illumination at night or in low-visibility conditions.
