2018 Indian Springfield Recalls — Canada & USA

The 2018 Indian Springfield has 4 recalls, the most serious being a gear position switch that can corrode and falsely show neutral on the display, causing the motorcycle to lurch forward unexpectedly when started.

Two recalls affect lighting. A faulty electrical connection at the vehicle control module can cut power to the front lights, including the headlight, leaving the rider without forward illumination while riding. Separately, some motorcycles may have been fitted with a European-market headlight assembly that does not meet US output standards, reducing how well the motorcycle is seen or sees the road at night. There is also an electrical concern tied to the same gear position switch defect: if the motorcycle starts while in gear and is parked in an enclosed space, the running engine raises the risk of carbon monoxide exposure.
