The 2009 Jaguar XF has 7 recalls, the most serious being a passenger-side airbag inflator that can rupture and send metal fragments into the cabin, posing a risk of serious injury or death.
This is the well-known Takata airbag issue, and the inflator defect can worsen over time when the vehicle has been exposed to sustained heat and humidity. A separate driver-side airbag recall covers a missing chemical component in the inflator that causes the second deployment stage to fire incorrectly in certain crashes, reducing the protection the airbag is designed to provide. On the restraint side, the rear seatbelt D-ring assemblies may not rotate freely on their mounting bolts, which can limit how well the belt manages crash forces and raise the risk of injury to rear passengers. There is also an electrical issue where the speaker wires inside the instrument cluster can crack and break due to the turn signal tone, which becomes more aggressive at higher speeds.
