2015 Jaguar Xj

The 2015 Jaguar XJ has 4 recalls, the most serious being two safety-critical issues: a software fault that can cause the front airbags to deploy improperly in a frontal crash, and a brake line junction leak that can reduce braking power and extend stopping distances.

The brake line issue affects vehicles built in early-to-mid 2014, where fluid can seep from junctions under the car. As brake fluid escapes, the system loses pressure and the pedal may feel soft or require more force, leaving the driver with less stopping ability than expected. The airbag software defect means the restraint control module may misread crash signals and fail to fire the front bags correctly when they are needed most, leaving occupants less protected.

The remaining two recalls both involve the owner's manual, where the description of how the passenger seat occupant sensor works and how the airbag status warning light behaves may be incorrect. If a driver or passenger misunderstands how the seat sensor classifies an occupant, or does not recognize what the airbag warning light is telling them, they may not realize the airbag system could be suppressed or inactive for a particular seat in a crash.
