The 1987 Jaguar XJ6 has 3 recalls, the most serious involving a cruise control microswitch that can fail to disengage when the brake pedal is pressed, leaving the vehicle accelerating while the brake lights stay dark and give no warning to following traffic.
On the suspension side, certain front lower spring pan bolts can corrode and fail, causing the suspension on one side to drop onto its bump stop and leaving the vehicle sitting unevenly with altered handling. The brakes also have a concern: the power brake accumulator switches can lose electrical power and stop recharging the hydraulic system, which gradually reduces brake assist and increases stopping distances to the point where the brakes may not respond adequately in an emergency.
