Defect
On certain motorcycles, the left front upper suspension A-arm pivot bolt was tightened incorrectly. Consequently, the nut can loosen, allowing the bolt to back out partway and the A-arm to separate from the rear side of the frame mount-bracket. While the A-arm is still secured to the vehicle via the lower shock mount and steering knuckle, separation of the frame-mounted end of the A-arm causes front wheel misalignment which affects steering control and could lead to an accident, resulting in injury or death.
Safety Risk
No risk description available.
Remedy
Dealers will inspect the gap between the collar and the A-arm mounting bracket on the frame, add washer as required, and tighten the nut of the pivot bolt with specified torque.
