The 1995 Land Rover Discovery has 4 recalls, the most serious being driveshafts that can disconnect from the differential and cause sudden, complete loss of vehicle control.
The driveshaft issue stems from a quality check performed at port of entry that required the driveshafts to be removed and reinstalled with incorrect nuts. Those nuts can work loose over time until one or both driveshafts separate entirely from the differential, leaving the driver with no ability to steer or control the vehicle's direction. The remaining two recalls both concern the right front door, which can fail to latch fully when closed. Rather than staying shut, the door bounces back off the door seals and can swing open while driving, putting any occupant seated on that side at risk of falling out or being struck by passing objects.
