The 2022 Land Rover Discovery has 4 recalls, the most serious being a blocked engine oil channel that can leak oil onto hot engine components and start a fire, and a mild-hybrid electrical fault that can cause a sudden loss of drive power while moving.
The oil leak and the drivetrain issue share the top severity ranking. On the electrical side, this recall affects mild-hybrid models: a DC-to-DC converter fault can cut drive power without warning, leaving the vehicle unable to accelerate normally in traffic. Turning to occupant protection, both the front seatbelt pretensioners and the driver's airbag system have separate concerns. The pretensioners, which tighten the belt in a crash to hold occupants in place, may be damaged and unable to do that job properly. The driver's airbag clockspring connector, which carries the electrical signal that fires the airbag, can corrode and prevent the airbag from deploying in a collision, leaving the driver without that protection when it matters most.
