The 2023 Land Rover Discovery has 4 recalls, the most serious involving a potential engine oil leak and a DC/DC converter fault in mild-hybrid models, both of which can lead to a fire or sudden loss of drive power.
On the engine side, a blocked oil channel in the cam carrier can cause oil to leak onto hot engine components, raising the risk of fire. Separately, mild-hybrid models carry a recall for a DC/DC converter that can fail and cut drive power without warning, leaving the vehicle unable to accelerate and increasing the chance of a crash.
Two occupant safety recalls cover the restraint system. The driver and front passenger seatbelt pretensioners may be damaged, meaning the belts will not pull tight against occupants in a crash the way they are designed to, raising the risk of injury. The driver's airbag clockspring connector can also corrode over time, preventing the airbag from deploying in a crash when it is needed most.
