The 2021 Land Rover Range Rover Sport has 6 recalls, the most serious affecting plug-in hybrid models: a drive belt on the water pump can fail and cause the engine to overheat, rupturing a coolant pipe and leaking fluid onto the turbocharger heat shield in a way that can lead to an engine fire. The rear seatbelt retractors may deactivate too early, preventing a child safety seat from locking in place securely during a crash. Two recalls relate to tire pressure information: on vehicles with 20-, 21-, or 22-inch wheels, the tire pressure monitoring system displays incorrect recommended pressures in the instrument cluster, and on vehicles with 19-inch wheels, the tire inflation labels on the vehicle itself state wrong pressures. Either situation can lead to driving on underinflated tires, which raises the risk of tread separation. On visibility, water can get inside the rearview camera on vehicles equipped with the surround camera system, causing the image to go blank or appear distorted when reversing. Finally, plug-in hybrid models may not produce enough pedestrian warning sound when stationary and in reverse, reducing awareness for people on foot nearby.
