The 2006 Land Rover Range Rover has 4 recalls, the most serious being a brake hose defect where one or both front flexible hoses can rupture, causing brake fluid loss, a longer pedal stroke, and significantly extended stopping distances.

The front brake hose issue affects hydraulic pressure to the front wheels, meaning the brakes lose much of their stopping force when the hoses fail. Because front brakes handle the majority of a vehicle's braking effort, a rupture can leave the driver with noticeably reduced control in an emergency stop.

The remaining two recalls both point to the same transmission problem and can be treated as a single concern: the automatic transmission's parking pawl guide plate may have been made incorrectly, preventing the transmission from fully engaging Park even when the gear lever is in the Park position and the dashboard shows Park selected. If the vehicle is left on any meaningful slope without the parking brake applied, it can roll away unattended. Owners who rely on the transmission alone to hold the vehicle on a hill should be aware that this defect means that expectation may not be met.
