The 2010 Lexus GX460 has 5 recalls, the most serious being a Takata airbag inflator defect where the passenger-side airbag can explode and send metal fragments into the cabin, causing serious injury or death.
The airbag issue spans multiple recall campaigns, with some applying broadly and others limited to vehicles sold or registered in high-humidity states and territories such as Florida, Hawaii, Texas, and similar climates. Prior repair attempts did not fully resolve the issue for all affected vehicles, which is why additional campaigns followed. There is also a separate electronic stability control recall: if the vehicle is driven through a sharp turn at high speed, the stability system may not respond correctly, allowing the vehicle to slide sideways and potentially roll over.
