The 2008 Lincoln Zephyr has 4 recalls, the most serious being a Takata airbag defect affecting both the driver and passenger sides, where the inflator can rupture and send metal fragments into the cabin, causing serious injury or death.

These airbag recalls apply to vehicles originally sold or registered in high-humidity states and territories including Florida, Texas, Hawaii, and others in that zone, and prior repair attempts may not have fully resolved the issue for all affected vehicles. On the brake side, the valves inside the anti-lock brake hydraulic control unit can react with certain brake fluid additives and fail to close properly, requiring more pedal travel to bring the vehicle to a stop and raising the risk of a crash.
