The airbag recalls are region-specific, applying to vehicles sold or registered in high-humidity areas including several southern states, Hawaii, and U.S. territories, where heat and moisture accelerate propellant breakdown over time. The remaining recall involves the anti-lock brake system's hydraulic control unit, where certain brake fluid formulations can react with the unit's internal valves and prevent them from closing fully. When this happens, the brake pedal travels further than normal before the vehicle slows, increasing stopping distances and the risk of a crash.
