2014 MASERATI QUATTROPORTE Recalls Canada & USA – Major League Recalls
2014 MASERATI QUATTROPORTE Recalls — Canada & USA
Summary
The 2014 Maserati Quattroporte has 7 recalls, the most serious being multiple fuel system issues where fuel lines can leak at connection points or from production damage, creating a fire risk near any ignition source.
The fuel line concerns span several filings but describe the same core problem: leaking fuel that can ignite. Separate from the fuel system, adjusting the front seats can cause the seat wiring harness to chafe and short, which also raises the risk of a fire. On the drivetrain side, the gear position indicator may not accurately show when the transmission is in Park, meaning the vehicle could roll when a driver believes it is stationary and attempts to exit. The rear suspension carries its own concern: a bolt attaching the rear tie-rod to the hub carrier may not be properly tightened, and if that bolt loosens further, the tie-rod can separate and cause a sudden loss of steering control. One recall covers a labeling issue where airbag warning information is missing from one side of the sun visor, which the regulator notes does not affect vehicle safety.
On certain vehicles, the airbag warning labels are located on the headliner under the sun visors. Canadian regulations require information about the airbag system to be provided on both sides of the sun visor.
Safety Risk
This small error does not affect safety.
Remedy
This is not a recall. Maserati has made changes to ensure that all new vehicles have the airbag warning labels installed correctly.
On certain vehicles, the fuel lines may weep or leak fuel due to an error in the assembly process. Fuel leaks may potentially occur at any location along the fuel line due to the introduction of foreign particles between the metal fuel line and plastic fuel line during the connection process. This could cause scratches on the plastic fuel line portion, and over time can increase the risk of an underhood fire causing injury and/or property damage.
Maserati North America, Inc. (Maserati) is recalling certain 2014-2015 Maserati Quattroporte and Ghibli vehicles. During production of the fuel lines, the lines may have been damaged, possibly resulting in a fuel leak.
Safety Risk
A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source can increase the risk of a fire.
Remedy
Maserati will notify owners, and dealers will replace the fuel line assemblies, free of charge, unless previously repaired under recall 17V-045. The recall began January 15, 2019. Owners may contact Maserati customer service at 1-877-696-2737. Maserati's number for this recall is 378. Note: This recall supersedes recall number 17V-045.
Maserati North America, Inc. (Maserati) is recalling certain 2014-2017 Quattroporte and Ghibli, and 2017 Levante vehicles. Adjusting the front seats may cause the seat wiring harness to rub, possibly resulting in an electrical short.
Safety Risk
An electrical short can increase the risk of a fire.
Remedy
Maserati will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the vehicles, replacing the seat wiring harness, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began June 26, 2017. Owners may contact Maserati customer service at 1-877-696-2737. Maserati's number for this recall is 342.

Maserati North America, Inc. (Maserati) is recalling certain model year 2014 Quattroporte and Ghibli vehicles manufactured June 1, 2013, to February 28, 2014. The affected vehicles, equipped with an eight-speed automatic transmission and a monostable gear selector, may mislead owners about which gear the vehicle is in and may not adequately warn the driver when driver's door is opened and the vehicle is not in PARK, allowing them to exit the vehicle while the vehicle is still in gear.
Safety Risk
Drivers thinking that their vehicle's transmission is in the PARK position may be struck by the vehicle and injured if they attempt to get out of the vehicle while the engine is running and the parking brake is not engaged.
Remedy
Maserati will notify owners, and dealers will perform a software update, free of charge. The remedy software is currently in development. Owners were mailed an interim notification on July 1, 2016. A second notice will be mailed when the software is available. Owners may contact Maserati customer service at 1-877-696-2737. Maserati's number for this recall is 307.
Maserati North America, Inc. (Maserati) is recalling certain model year 2014-2016 Quattroporte and Ghibli vehicles manufactured February 1, 2013, to September 18, 2015. During the assembly process, the rear tie-rod to hub assembly attaching bolt may not have been properly tightened.
Safety Risk
An improperly tightened rear tie-rod to hub carrier assembly attaching bolt may allow the tie-rod to separate from the hub carrier, resulting in a loss of control, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Maserati will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the left and right rear tie-rod to hub carrier assembly attaching bolts to verify that they are properly tightened, replacing the rear tie-rod to hub carrier assembly as necessary, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin during July 2016. Owners may contact Maserati customer service at 1-877-696-2737. Maserati's number for this recall is 303.
