The 2018 McLaren Senna has two recalls, both concerning the same defect: the engine wiring harness can rub against a heat shield in the engine bay, wearing through the insulation and damaging the wires underneath.

As the wires degrade, the engine can misfire, drop into a reduced-power limp mode, stall unexpectedly, or lose torque without warning, any of which raises the risk of a crash. There is also a fire risk: if unburnt fuel builds up in the catalytic converter as a result of the misfiring engine, the converter can overheat.
