What can fail
The driver-side seat belt cover may not be properly installed on the seat belt tensioner, which can allow the seat belt anchor to come loose.
What the fix does
The 2023 Mercedes-Benz AMG C43 has 7 recalls, the most serious involving multiple issues that can cut drive power without warning or cause an electrical fire.
Three recalls involve the electrical and fuel systems. The transmission wiring harness may be the wrong length and can chafe and fail, cutting drive power. Separately, the fuel pump can shut down and also cause a sudden loss of drive power. The ground connections on the electrical wiring harness may not be properly secured, allowing the harness to overheat and catch fire. There is also a concern with 80-amp fuses that can fail and cause a loss of drive power or knock out critical systems including the airbags and instrument cluster.
Two recalls affect occupant restraint. On vehicles equipped with AMG Performance seats, the seat wiring harness may be routed incorrectly and can get damaged when the seat reclines fully, preventing the seat-mounted airbags from deploying in a crash. The driver-side seatbelt cover may also be improperly installed on the tensioner, allowing the anchor to work loose and leave the belt unable to restrain the driver in a crash.
