2014 Mercedes-Benz Amg C63

The 2014 Mercedes-Benz AMG C63 has 4 recalls, the most serious involving the airbag system: the passenger-side frontal airbag inflator can explode and send metal fragments into the cabin, and the driver's airbag can deploy without warning while driving.

Both airbag recalls are serious but in different ways. The passenger-side inflator issue is the well-known Takata-style rupture risk, where the inflator itself bursts and projects sharp metal shards toward the passenger seat rather than deploying the bag safely. The driver's airbag concern is separate: the bag can fire unexpectedly during normal driving, which can startle the driver, obstruct vision, and contribute to a crash. There is also a third airbag concern that applies specifically to vehicles where the front passenger airbag was previously replaced: an incorrect bag may have been installed during that prior repair, meaning the airbag may not inflate properly in a crash when it is actually needed. On the electronics side, a software fault in the emergency call system can cause it to report the wrong date and time, which in turn can cause the system to send rescuers to an incorrect location when an emergency call is triggered.
