The 2018 Mercedes-Benz AMG E63S has 6 recalls, the most serious being two fire risks: a starter motor cable that can chafe nearby wiring and cause a short circuit or stall, and a turbocharger oil feed line that can leak oil onto hot engine components.
On the occupant safety side, three recalls affect the front seats and restraints. The AMG performance seat backrests may have inadequate welds that can cause the seat to fail in a crash, the front passenger seat can be adjusted past its intended range in a way that raises injury risk in a crash, and the seatbelt pretensioners along with the pre-crash tensioning system may not activate during a collision. There is also a concern with the front passenger seat sensor, which may not properly detect a child seat and could leave the passenger airbag active when it should be off, increasing the risk of airbag injury to a child in a crash.
