2020 MERCEDES-BENZ AMG GT Recalls Canada & USA – Major League Recalls
2020 MERCEDES-BENZ AMG GT Recalls — Canada & USA
Summary
The 2020 Mercedes-Benz AMG GT has 4 recalls, covering two distinct issues: headlights aimed too high that can create glare for oncoming drivers, and an emergency call system that may fail to transmit accurate location data or allow voice communication.
The headlight aim issue affects certain vehicles where the beams point too high, reducing road illumination for the driver and creating glare that can impair oncoming traffic. The emergency call system concern affects AMG GT C and GT R models, where a missing ground wire in the communication module can prevent the system from correctly relaying the vehicle's location or connecting a voice call to the emergency call center, potentially delaying a response if the car is involved in a crash.
Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC (MBUSA) is recalling certain 2020 AMG GT vehicles. The headlights may have been incorrectly aimed too high. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, "Lamp, Reflective Devices and Associated Equipment."
Safety Risk
Incorrectly aimed headlights can reduce the visibility of oncoming traffic, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
MBUSA will notify owners, and dealers will check the headlight aim, and correct it, if necessary, free of charge. The recall began January 20, 2021. Owners may contact MBUSA customer service at 1-800-367-6372. MBUSA's number for this recall is 2020120016.
On certain AMG GT C and GT R models, the ground wire for the communication module may not have been installed. As a result, the emergency call feature may not work properly. This could cause difficulty speaking to the call center and the vehicle location may not be sent.
Safety Risk
If the emergency call feature does not work correctly, there could be a delay in response from emergency services.
Remedy
Mercedes-Benz will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your vehicle to a dealer to repair the wiring harness for the communication module.
Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC. (MBUSA) is recalling certain 2020 AMG GT vehicles. The emergency call system (eCall) communication module may be missing the wiring harness ground line, which may cause the system to relay an inaccurate vehicle location, and restrict the ability to communicate verbally with the call center.
Safety Risk
An inaccurate vehicle location or the inability to communicate with the call center may delay emergency responders, increasing the risk of injury in the event of an emergency.
Remedy
