The 2019 Mercedes-Benz AMG GT has 4 recalls, the most serious being a wiring harness issue on 4Matic all-wheel-drive models where water can enter a connector and cause a short circuit, creating a fire risk even when the vehicle is parked and off.
Two recalls cover the automatic emergency call system, which contacts first responders after a crash. In one case, the system can transmit an incorrect location, sending emergency responders to the wrong place. In the other, the system can fail entirely, leaving occupants unable to reach an emergency call center at all. Both failures can delay help following a crash. There is also a minor but physical hazard: wheel center caps on certain vehicles can detach at speed and become a projectile risk to pedestrians and other drivers nearby.
