The 2020 Mercedes-Benz AMG GT63 has 6 recalls, the most serious involving a starter motor cable that can chafe surrounding wiring, causing a short circuit that may stall the engine or start a fire.
A structural concern involves the left-rear seatback latch, which may not hold under load in a crash, allowing the seatback to fold forward and strike occupants. On the electronics side, a software error in the electronic stability control system can cause it to react incorrectly to certain driving situations, reducing the vehicle's ability to maintain control. Two recalls both relate to the emergency call system: in a crash, the system can send rescuers to the wrong location, delaying response. There is also a wheel hub cap issue where the caps can detach at speed and become a hazard for other vehicles and pedestrians on the road.
