The 2021 Mercedes-Benz AMG GT63 has 5 recalls, the most serious involving a starter motor cable that may not be correctly installed, allowing wiring to chafe and short-circuit, which can stall the engine or start a fire.
Two recalls involve restraint systems. The rear seatbelt retractors can deactivate earlier than intended, preventing a child safety seat from locking in properly and leaving it unsecured in a crash. There is also a concern with the seatbelt pretensioners and airbags, which may not deploy or tighten correctly in a crash, reducing their ability to protect occupants. On the electronics side, the multimedia system software can cause the backup camera display to go black or fail to load on startup, limiting rear visibility when reversing. The automatic crash notification system also has a recall: in a collision, the system may relay incorrect location data to emergency responders, delaying help from reaching the right place.
