The 2020 Mercedes-Benz CLS 450 has 5 recalls, the most serious being multiple issues with the automatic emergency call system that can prevent it from contacting first responders or direct them to the wrong location after a crash.
The eCall concerns span several filings but reflect a common problem: in an emergency, the system may fail to connect, fail to transmit the vehicle's correct location, or stop working entirely, all of which can delay help from reaching occupants. There is also a battery-related recall where the 12-volt battery can lose the ability to power certain safety features, including the eCall system, hazard lights, power seats, and automatic door locks, reducing the vehicle's ability to protect occupants during a crash. Separately, a software error can cause the rearview camera display to go blank when reversing, reducing what the driver can see behind the vehicle.
