The 2024 Mercedes-Benz EQE 350 4MATIC has 3 recalls, the most serious involving two separate hazards that can cause a crash: sudden loss of drive power and a steering coupling that can loosen and cause complete loss of steering control.
The battery management software can cause drive power to cut out without warning while the vehicle is in motion, leaving the driver with no acceleration response. Separately, a steering coupling bolt may not have been tightened correctly at the factory, allowing the coupling to work loose from the steering rack over time. When that happens, steering input from the wheel may no longer reach the front axle, meaning the driver cannot reliably control the direction of the vehicle. The third recall involves the pedestrian alert system: software in the low-speed warning tone generator can produce the wrong sound when the vehicle is reversing, which may not catch the attention of pedestrians nearby and raise the risk of a backover incident.
