The 2014 Mercedes-Benz GLK250 has 5 recalls, the most serious involving fire risk from an oil leak, an airbag inflator that can explode and send metal fragments into the cabin, an inadvertent driver airbag deployment, and a steering bolt that may not be tight enough to maintain steering control.
The oil leak comes from the engine's chain tensioner gasket area, where dripping oil can reach hot engine surfaces and ignite, and can also create a slick hazard on the road. The passenger airbag inflator can rupture explosively, throwing sharp metal pieces toward occupants. The driver airbag carries a separate concern: it can deploy without warning while driving, which raises the risk of a crash. On the steering side, a connecting bolt in the steering column coupling may be insufficiently tightened, which can result in a sudden loss of steering. A lower-severity recall covers a software fault in the emergency call system that can report an incorrect vehicle location to emergency responders, potentially delaying their response.
