The 2014 Mercedes-Benz GLK350 has 5 recalls, the most serious being a steering coupling bolt that may not be properly tightened, which can cause a complete loss of steering control while driving.
Two airbag recalls also carry serious consequences. The passenger-side airbag inflator can rupture and send metal fragments into the cabin, posing a risk of serious injury or death to anyone in the passenger seat. Separately, the driver's airbag can deploy without warning, which itself raises the risk of injury and loss of vehicle control. An electrical software issue rounds out the safety concerns: the airbag control system may not deploy airbags correctly in a crash, reducing occupant protection. There is also a communication system recall where a software fault causes the emergency call system to transmit an incorrect date, time, or location, which could delay emergency responders from reaching the scene of a crash.
