The 2012 Mercedes-Benz GLK350 has 4 recalls, all involving the frontal airbag inflators on both the driver and passenger sides, where the inflator can rupture and send metal fragments into the cabin, causing serious injury or death.

All four recalls trace to the same underlying defect affecting the Takata-style frontal airbag inflators. Both the driver-side and passenger-side inflators are affected. When either airbag deploys in a crash, the inflator can explode rather than inflate cleanly, scattering metal fragments toward the driver, front passenger, or other occupants. These recalls are geographically scoped, meaning they apply to vehicles originally sold or ever registered in high-humidity states such as Alabama, California, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Louisiana, and Mississippi, among others, where prolonged moisture exposure makes inflator rupture more likely. Owners outside those states may still be affected if the vehicle was ever titled or registered in a covered region at any point in its history.
