Summary
The 2019 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 3500 has 13 recalls, the most serious involving fuel system leaks and brake failure risks: diesel fuel can leak from an unsecured fuel pump connection, fuel line clamps can loosen and create a fire hazard, and brake fluid can leak into the electric parking brake housing and allow air into the hydraulic system, causing the brake pedal to travel further before engaging.
On the steering side, the power steering return hose can detach and spill fluid onto the road, causing a sudden loss of steering assist. Several structural and safety equipment concerns also exist: partition wall bolts may be missing, allowing the wall to break loose in a crash, and the airbag system may not have been activated during production, meaning the airbags would not deploy in a collision. There are also a number of lighting and display issues: the instrument cluster can go completely blank at startup, the taillight brightness can drop sharply or cut out entirely when the light switch is turned quickly, LED headlights on some vehicles may not be properly aimed, high-beam assist may prevent the driver from switching off the brights, the instrument display can appear too bright to see past in certain light conditions, and rear fog lamps may not illuminate when switched on. A spare tire speed limit label may also be missing on some vehicles.
