The remaining two recalls both involve the rear seat back strikers, the metal anchors that lock the rear seatback upright. In one case, the strikers were manufactured incorrectly and can deform in a frontal crash, allowing the seatback to give way and fail to restrain rear passengers properly. A separate recall covers strikers with incomplete welds that can partially separate in a crash, again leaving the rear seatback unsecured. It is worth noting that the fuel leak recall arose because a prior repair under an earlier recall may not have been completed correctly, with the sensor left insufficiently tightened during that remedy.
