The 2004 Nissan Quest has 7 recalls, the most serious being a power sliding door that can swing open during rapid acceleration in cold weather, risking an occupant falling out of the vehicle.
Two recalls cover the front passenger airbag suppression system: the seat's occupant detection sensor may fail to recognize a small child and leave the airbag active, raising the risk of the airbag injuring a child in a crash. These recalls share the same underlying defect and have been addressed across multiple filings. There is also a separate airbag concern on vehicles that have had the steering wheel airbag previously replaced, where the plastic emblem on the airbag cover can break free and become a projectile inside the cabin when the airbag deploys. On the seating side, a weld on the third-row seat bracket can break and allow the seat striker to separate from its mount, reducing the seat's ability to hold occupants in a collision. The second-row seat adjustment mechanism also exposes moving metal parts at the rear inside edge that can pinch a finger during adjustment.
