The 2021 Polestar 2 has 9 recalls, the most serious being a battery management software fault that can cut power to the drive system without warning while the vehicle is moving, raising the risk of a crash. A separate braking concern also affects this model: in certain downhill coasting situations while using One Pedal Drive, the vehicle can lose brake function entirely. Several recalls address the rearview camera, which can fail to display any image or show the wrong camera view when the vehicle is shifted into reverse. Prior repair attempts for this issue did not fully resolve it on some vehicles, and a second repair may be needed. There is also an infotainment software fault that can independently prevent the rearview camera image from appearing. One recall involves a tire and loading information label that omits the spare tire notation in both required languages, a compliance issue that carries no functional safety risk.
