The 2021 Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid has 3 recalls, the most serious being a missing seat heating element that can prevent the front passenger airbag from deploying in a crash.
The passenger seat occupant classification system relies on a calibrated heating element in the seatback; without it, the system may not correctly detect the front passenger, leaving the airbag inactive when it is needed most. On the charging side, using a standard 220V/240V home outlet at the 100% charge setting can overtax the outlet or the compact charging cable, causing either to overheat and potentially start a fire. There is also a visibility concern: the rearview camera may fail to display an image when the vehicle is shifted into reverse, leaving the driver without a view of what is directly behind the vehicle while backing up.
