The 2003 Porsche Cayenne S has 7 recalls, the most serious involving multiple fire risks: fuel can leak from a cracked fuel pump flange or ignite from a static spark during refueling, and parking brake springs can rub through the main wiring harness and start a fire under the dashboard. A separate powertrain recall covers the transmission shifter, which can detach from the transmission and leave the vehicle in a different gear than the lever shows, risking unexpected movement. On the safety equipment side, the driver's seat frame may have inadequate welds and can break in a crash, reducing the protection the seat provides. There is also a compliance concern: when an optional override device is used to remove the key outside of Park, the steering wheel does not lock as required, leaving the vehicle without that theft-deterrent protection.
