The 2023 RAM 2500 has 9 recalls, the most serious involving multiple fire risks: a heater grid relay on diesel-equipped trucks can short and ignite an engine compartment fire, and transmission fluid can leak onto hot engine components and catch fire.
A software error in the powertrain control module can allow the truck to exceed the speed rating of its tires, which can cause a loss of vehicle control. There is also a transmission concern where a fluid leak onto electrical components can cause loss of drive power or loss of the park function, either of which raises crash risk. On the safety equipment side, a faulty clockspring can prevent the driver's airbag from deploying in a crash. Visibility is affected by two separate issues: the rearview camera can fail to display an image when reversing, with both a trailer reverse steering module and radio software identified as causes on different vehicles. Rounding out the list, a steering column control module can mix up the turn signal and high beam controls, activating the wrong one and potentially confusing other drivers.
