The 2018 RAM ProMaster City has 3 recalls, the most serious being a steering gear defect where a cracked housing leaks hydraulic fluid and causes the steering wheel to suddenly require much greater effort to turn.
The steering issue appears across two filings but describes the same underlying problem: a crack in the rack and pinion housing lets hydraulic fluid escape, and without that fluid pressure the driver can experience an abrupt and significant increase in steering resistance, raising the risk of losing control. There is also a labeling recall involving the tire placard, which on some vehicles lists an incorrect maximum number of occupants. If a driver follows that inaccurate figure and loads the vehicle accordingly, the tires can be overloaded beyond their design limits, which can lead to a tire failure while driving.
