What can fail
When upshifting from first to second gear, the bike may not engage second gear and go into neutral instead. If you continue opening the throttle, engine RPM climbs very high. Shifting into second gear without releasing the clutch at high RPM puts extreme stress on the drive chain, which can stretch, come off, or break, causing loss of power.
What the fix does
Dealer replaces the Engine Control Module with reprogrammed software and inspects the drive chain. Drive chain and sprocket are replaced if inspection reveals damage.
