Summary
The 2020 Tesla Model Y has 11 recalls, the most serious being multiple suspension issues where knuckles can fracture, control arm bolts can loosen, or lateral link fasteners can separate, any of which can cause sudden loss of steering control or vehicle stability.
Several of these suspension recalls overlap in the parts affected, covering the front and rear knuckles, the front upper control arm, and the front lateral links. The common result across all of them is that the wheel geometry can shift without warning, leaving the driver with reduced or no ability to steer. There is also a hood latch concern: the latch can fail without triggering the warning light on the dashboard, allowing the hood to fly open while driving and blocking the driver's view.
On the restraint side, second-row seatbelt retractors and front shoulder belt anchors may have loose or improperly attached fasteners, which can prevent the belts from holding an occupant properly in a crash.
Lighting issues round out the list. One or both taillights can intermittently fail to illuminate, and on vehicles equipped with a tow package, a software error can prevent trailer brake lights from activating. There is also a recall covering Autosteer, where the system may not adequately prompt the driver to stay engaged, raising the risk that a driver is unprepared to take over when needed.
