The 2024 Tesla Model Y has 5 recalls, the most serious involving the hood latch sensor failing to detect an unlatched hood, which can allow the hood to fly open while driving and block the driver's view.
A structural concern affects the front seats: a weld on the seat recliner mechanism may fail, allowing the seat back to give way in a crash and fail to restrain the occupant. On the visibility side, a circuit board in the rearview camera system can short and cause the camera image to drop out entirely when reversing. The tire pressure monitoring system may also fail to keep the low-pressure warning light on between drive cycles, leaving the driver unaware of underinflated tires. Finally, the instrument panel displays brake and ABS warning lights in a font that is too small, making those alerts harder to read in the moment they matter most.
