The 2024 Tesla Model Y has 5 recalls, the most serious being a hood latch that can fail to detect an unlatched hood, allowing it to fly fully open while driving and blocking the driver's view.
The front seat is also a concern: a weld attaching the recliner mechanism to the seat back frame can fail, meaning the seat back may not hold an occupant in place during a crash and could collapse rearward on impact. On the visibility side, a circuit board short can cause the rearview camera to go dark when backing up, eliminating the rear view entirely. The tire pressure monitoring system can also stop working correctly between drive cycles, with the low-pressure warning light failing to stay on even when a tire remains underinflated, leaving the driver unaware. Rounding out the list is a compliance issue with the instrument panel: the brake, park, and ABS warning lights display in a font size that is smaller than required, making those alerts harder to read at a glance.
