Separately, vehicles equipped with the optional pre-collision system can experience unexpected automatic braking, which raises the risk of a rear-end collision from the vehicle behind. There is also a concern with the airbag control unit itself: during certain crashes, the module can malfunction and fail to trigger the airbags or seat belt pretensioners, leaving occupants without the restraint protection the system is designed to provide.
